Songs To Listen Too When You Want To Cry

Music. The way we communicate our deepest emotions in a small but impactful way. This is probably the most accessible and common form that we see ourselves represented on a daily basis; through song. Music manifests countless emotions through lyrics and composition, which will resonate and affect each person in a different way, depending on their own set of circumstances at that current point in time. The songs I have compiled for this blog post are those which seek to bring out an emotional response of sadness or reflection upon events or emotions that one may come across in life. These songs present themes that are very real, relevant and relatable. Some deal with issues such as breakups and relationship turmoil, while others attempt to display themes of death, suicide and mental illness through the medium of song. These themes were and remain controversial and taboo, which makes their appearance in music so much more impactful for the listener. These are a simple form of escapism that can really affect ones mood and behaviour. So it is extremely important that musicians tackle these difficult topics in a respectful and empathetic way. Luckily, this often occurs due to the personal connection that a musician will often have to the topic, due to personal experience in dealing with it. Therefore, if you are feeling like you need to let out some emotions, do it. Do not hold them in and let them stagnate within yourself. Bring them to the surface so that any negative areas can hopefully be examined and expelled. Though, sometimes we just need to listen to sad music or watch a sad movie to release these emotions. So below, I have curated a list (in no particular order) of some songs which I find have very strong messages and can often bring a tear to the eye.
